Capithetical is a entry to a hypothetical architectural competition that invited participants to re-imagine a capital city of Australia. What kinds of pressures and influences would there be if the city were being planned today? Brendan worked on the entry with Simon Whibley, Simon Jeppesen, John Hajko, Aaron Robinson and Cam Newnham and developed the entry called “Gondwana”

Gondwana is the name for the once connected landscape of the entire Southern Hemisphere, a single prehistoric landmass. This ambition of this contemporary Gondwana is, in a sense, to reconstitute such intense connection through a single, small, highly transient location: a city of constant influx and exchange of people from elsewhere.

Gondwana is optimistic and unfinished, its territory larger than the space it requires. It is a generous city.
